Lot 2593 SCARCE & HIGH CONDITION ORIGINAL MAUSER PILOT
GROUP MODEL 29/70 LUGER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH FACTORY BOX. Cal. 30 Luger. S# 10.00.1053. Bbl. 6". Extremely early (53rd Original Mauser 29/70 Luger chambered in .30 Luger) Model 29/70 Luger semi-automatic mfg. by Mauser in 1970. According to page 284 of "The Parabellum is Back!", by Mauro Baudino & Gerben Van Vlimmeren, "The first 60 Mauser Parabellums produced in .30 Luger are usually identified by collectors as prototypes. These pistols were produced immediately after the two prototypes. These pistols have the pattern with double dot (10.00.xxxx) and only the frame is numbered (as for the Display Group). This example is marked with the Original Mauser logo on the toggle, with Interarms' importer information marked on the right side of the bbl. extension. Left side of the frame is marked "MAUSER PARABELLUM/ .30 LUGER", with Mauser's mfg. information marked vertically along the front grip strap, and "Made in Germany" marked on the rear of the frame. Top of the bbl. is marked ".30 Luger", followed by an "FBM" within a Mauser banner logo (also present on left side of the frame). Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, with some small parts including the takedown lever, trigger, safety lever, and ejector exhibiting a straw finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips, and features a grip safety. Dovetailed blade front sight, with fixed U-notch rear sight. MAGS: 1 blue 8-rd. mag. with black plastic bottom, marked with the Mauser banner logo on the spine. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: non-matching (S# 078v.250B) factory box. CONDITION: fine, with metal components retaining virtually all of their original factory finishes, with the left side of the frame exhibiting a couple of light scratches to the left of the "MAUSER PARABELLUM" marking. (Presumed) Mirror bore, exhibiting a thick layer of grease, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Grips show some smoothing, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. Box shows some age related discoloration, and some scattered marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of Charles Wagner.
